NB3FIT MONTH

A NATIONAL MONTH OF NATIVE HEALTH AND FITNESS
NOVEMBER 2024

Get ready for #NB3FIT Day!

Join us on Sunday, November 3, at North Domingo Baca Park in Albuquerque, NM for a day of fun and fitness dedicated to Native youth. Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with activities that promote health, wellness and community. Best of all, it’s FREE!

Let’s get active together!

Join Us for NB3FIT Month

A national month of inspiration, learning and physical movement to support the health and fitness of Native youth across Indian Country. We are encouraging tribes, Native-led organizations, urban Indian centers, schools and groups to host a physical activity, fitness and/or health awareness event during NB3FIT MONTH.

Gather a team to coordinate a safe event in your community!
You’ll receive a marketing toolkit for your event too!

Here’s how to join!

  • Choose the type of event.
  • Register your event or family!
  • Promote your event.
  • Have fun and take photos!
  • Share the experience on the NB3 Foundation’s social media sites.

NB3FIT MONTH GOALS:

  • Engage 5,000 Native American youth across the country in physical activity for a minimum of one hour per event during November!
  • Promote drinking clean water
  • Promote eating healthy foods

Over the past two years NB3FIT Month  engaged over 5,000 Native youth per year through 140 registered sites and over 130 physical activity and health-centered events in 21 states!

This year we want to increase those numbers, and your help is vital in reaching our goal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should my tribe/organization participate?

NB3FIT Week is a one of a kind event dedicated to celebrating the health and fitness of our Native youth and communities. When you participate in NB3FIT Week you join fellow Native organizations, tribes and communities who all share the same goal of getting our Native youth and families active and healthy! Especially today, when  youth  programming and sports are being postponed, altered and canceled. It’s important for us to  be creative and proactive, ensuring our youth with the opportunities to stay active and healthy!

How does my community participate safely?

Safety of our Native youth and communities is top priority. For  NB3FIT Week there are many ways you can still participate, and be safe doing so.

We recommend always following the COVID-19 Safe Practices set forth in your  community. Always practice social distancing and mask up!

What kind of virtual events can I host?

  • Host your own virtual community walk/run!
  • Put together wellness kits for community members to stay healthy and active on their own during the week! Include simple items (chalk, cones, jump ropes, frisbees, rubber ball etc.)   and ingredients (plain cereals, nuts, dried fruits)  for healthy snack making. At the bottom of this page are some games and easy recipes to include in the kits!
  • Fitness Bingo! Have youth and families complete a BINGO card with different nutrition and fitness activities! Feel free to use this NB3FIT Week FITNESS BINGO (Below in the resources tab), or design your own. You can hand out fun prizes to those who complete the most BINGOs.
  • Host a step challenge! Have families and community members track their daily step counts for the chance to win raffle prizes. Have them share their steps from their fitness watch or let them track on paper. We’ve included a sample step tracker in the resources tab.

What does NB3 Foundation provide me as a host?
