POSITION: NB3FIT Basketball Specialist
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of NB3FIT, the NB3FIT Basketball Specialist leads the development and implementation of all basketball programming and supports implementation of all other NB3FIT programs. This position works closely with the Director of NB3FIT as well as Evaluation and Research department staff in the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of NB3FIT programming. In collaboration with the Director of NB3FIT and other NB3FIT Program Coordinators, this position will help ensure NB3FIT programs effectively promote the Foundation’s four core areas.
DETAIL OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all aspects of NB3FIT basketball programs including, but not limited to, Basketball Skills Clinics, the NB3FIT basketball league, and NB3FIT basketball team(s)
- Develop, implement, revise and refine basketball curriculum to ensure effective support participants’ development of the Foundation’s four core areas
- Assist with implementation of curriculum for all NB3FIT programs
- Assist with development of curriculum for all NB3FIT programs
- Set up and take down of tables, tents, supplies etc. for all NB3FIT programs/events
- Collect, organize and maintain program data (Knowledge Kits, attendance, etc.)
- Recruitment and registration of NB3FIT program participants
- Communication and collaboration with Evaluation and Research staff to support program evaluation
- Participate in and contribute to all NB3FIT program meetings and NB3 Foundation staff Meetings
- Communicate with participant families about program updates, participant progress, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Significant basketball experience and expertise gained through playing in youth clubs, high school, and/or college. Previous coaching experience is highly desired.
- Experience working with underserved populations in sport settings, particularly with Native American youth.
- Background in leadership development through sport and/or sport as an agent for social change in underserved populations.
- Intermediate skill in the use of computer technology such as Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail, and database management
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people of all backgrounds and ability levels.
- Knowledge of Native American culture and pertinent social issues pertaining to Native American/Alaska Natives.
- Ability to represent the Foundation in a professional manner, building respect and confidence in the organization.
- Ability to listen to concerns of participants, staff, parents and coaches and takes specific actions and provides feedback.
Compensation, benefits and workplace
The salary for this position is $21.00 per hour, with a generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, employee assistance plan and retirement plan with a 3% company match. NB3 Foundation employees currently enjoy a 36-hour work week and a hybrid office schedule, working from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the Foundation office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
