Community Partner Updates: COVID-19 Relief
In December 2020, NB3 Foundation awarded over $300,000 in grants to 58 Native-led organizations across the nation who are working to alleviate the impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Since then, our community partners have been hard at work utilizing funds to provide their communities with much needed resources. Here is a quick look at just some of the work being done in Indigenous communities.
Chizh for Cheii
CFC is known for delivering over 80 loads of free firewood every year to high risk elders and families in need on the Navajo Nation. To celebrate our 9th year, the CFC team is challenging ourselves to provide 900 loads.
● Over 1,668 volunteer hours logged, chopping/delivering firewood, food and water to Navajo elders
Northwest Tribal Emergency Management Council / National Tribal Emergency Management Council
Located in Snohomish, WA, the (NWTEMC) aims to to help build emergency management and homeland security infrastructure and internal capacity within Tribal Nations that Tribal Nations can fully exercise Tribal Sovereignty and be in charge of their own incidents.
Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma

The gratitude that was expressed to us was sincere, heartfelt, and moving to say the least. “It came at a time when the holidays had depleted not only our pocket books but our cabinets as well.

Diné members, Home Visitor-Byrickson Henderson and Program Manager-Clarice Yazzie were able to utilize funding to purchase diaper/wipes, formula, hygiene items for infant/toddlers and parents, laundry items, cleaning supplies and a holiday meal (ham, potatoes, frozen vegetables, flour/baking powder, bath toy and hardback book for child enrolled in our program.
Diné Introsopective, Inc.
Diné Introspective is a peer support group in Shiprock, New Mexico which meets every two weeks at the Healing Circle Drop-In Center. Our goal is to empower ourselves as Natives in a Modern World. Diné Introspective is non-discriminating and open to all peoples (LGBTQ Community). They are open to ideas about topics and issues that relate to Diné Culture.
Ajo Center for Sustainable Agriculture

Society of Native Nations Antonio, TX
COVID-19 Response Food and Supplies Project
To date, Society of Native Nations has done 31 home drop-offs of food/medical/sanitation supplies to elders and families and seem to be adding one or two more elders during every major drop-off. They are also supporting 20 disabled, elderly residents at a Retirement Apartment complex with food and sanitation supplies. They have also given out 18 Chromebooks to students that attend schools that do not have these resources to continue online education at home.
